Talk about deja vu! Lightning never strikes twice but Reds striker Luis Suarez definitely does.
Suarez dismantled Norwich single-handedly in this fixture last season, scoring a hat trick in a one-sided 3-0 win that included a sublime effort from the halfway line.
And the lethal Uruguayan international simply carried on where he left off, hitting another stunning treble and setting up a fourth goal in another Carrow Road super show.
It was more of the same as the little hitman celebrated his 50th Premier League appearance for the Pool in sensational style.
Manager Brendan Rodgers had a smile as wide as the Mersey as his side shrugged off their worst start to a season for 101 years with a long-awaited first league win.
He said : "I am obviously very contended. But I'm not surprised because our performance level recently has been very good.
"The quality of our whole game was outstanding.
"I saw Suarez's three goals at Norwich last season and this was another master class in clinical finishing. So it was a very special day for him and for the team."
But Norwich's nightmare under new boss Chris Hughton continued as they slumped into the bottom three, still seeking their first win.
The quicksilver Suarez needed only seventy seconds to get his name on the score sheet.
England defender Glen Johnson broke quickly before playing a pass into thick traffic in the box.
Recalled central defender Michael Turner desperately stuck out a boot but his hasty clearance found Suarez.
He sped past Leon Barnett and Bradley Johnson before sliding a low right foot shot past Ruddy with almost surgical precision.
Norwich simply couldn't contain Suarez and only a shocking decision by referee Michael Jones then denied him an absolutely stonewall penalty after 23 minutes.
The striker raced clear into the area and was sent crashing to the ground by a blow to the head from behind by Barnett, only for Mr Jones to wave away the Pool appeals.
Rodgers angrily accused referees of failing to give his side the decisions they deserved earlier this week and the incident underlined his point.
But Suarez was soon back in the spotlight, shooting narrowly wide after 37 minutes when he should have scored and firing home his second goal of the game just a minute later.
Suarez nipped in like lightning to rob the ball from Turner before netting almost nonchalantly with the outside of his right foot.
The Uruguay striker then laid the third Liverpool goal on a plate for on-loan Real Madrid schemer Sahin, who was left with a simple side-foot finish from six yards.
And Suarez took his tally to six for the season and twenty in total in the Premier League with another sizzling right foot shot to claim his hat trick after 57 minutes.
Norwich striker Steve Morison reduced the deficit four minutes later with his first goal of the season but skipper Steve Gerrard saw his 68th minute shot deflected in by the hapless Barnett to cap Liverpool's five-star display.
Substitute Grant Holt, last season's 17 goal top scorer, then cracked in his first of the campaign at the death to put a little gloss on a grim afternoon for Norwich.
Hughton said : "We made a lot of errors and came up against Suarez on a day when he was at his most clinical. We gave them goals at pivotal moments in the match and they really hurt us."
